About Mammography Jobs
Mammography is a system that produces breasts images using a low-dose x-ray system. Viewing of the images can be done in various formats such as film at a view box or on a digital mammography work station. Mammography plays an important role in early detection of breast cancers because it can show changes in breasts up to two years before it can be felt.
Current guidelines recommend mammography screening every year for women, beginning at age 40. However women who have had breast cancer and those who are at increased risk of breast cancer should seek expert medical advice when they should begin mammograms and about the frequency of screening. The reason for this five-member group's search is related to the fact that they lost a partner a little over a year ago who returned back to North Carolina to be closer to he and his wife's families. He had been with them for four plus years and was a fellowship trained body imager. It was a very amicable parting and they truly wish each other well. They would like to replace him with another BC radiologist that could bring extra skills in MRI/MSK/body imaging whether fellowship trained or not. However, clinically they do need a general radiologist willing to do everything including US, mammo, plain films, nucs, etc. The only interventional they do is occasional biopsy and drainage procedures. Angio has not been a part of their practice for awhile now. So, they need a well-rounded generalist that is capable of doing most everything, but who wouldn't mind spending some concentrated time in MR and CT. Someone with those credentials and interests can instantly become the head of MRI for the group if they so wish. They are actually recruiting for two people based on their current growth and the fact that they took over a brand new 100-bed hospital last year. It, as well as their larger hospital (10 minutes apart), are very well equipped with PACS systems, 1.5 MRIs, digital mammo, and 16-slice CTs. They also have a nighthawk service every day of the week and it takes over at 7:30 p.m. during the week and 4:30 p.m. on the weekends. And with there so rarely being anything emergent that happens you get a good night's sleep every night and truly enjoy the fruits of Florida's favorable climate. There are also locums docs in the area that are helping them keep up with things right now, but they would like to have permanent, partnership-minded people they can bring on board this coming summer or sooner.
They cover two hospitals and an imaging center, which is a joint venture between the group and the new hospital. So, they get a share of technical fees and are able to make a favorable income as a partner. They are willing to offer the right candidate(s) a one-year track to partnership and full equity in the practice. The area is gorgeous and described as an upscale Naples, if there is such a thing. The area is growing like crazy and they feel there is a good shot that in 2008 they will be a six or seven-member group. There are other potential sources for business in the surrounding area, but they need to get what they have staffed first. And one of those two openings may be filled with someone they are currently pursuing, which may mean only one position available. But nevertheless they need a Florida licensed candidate that would be in a position to begin practicing with them ASAP.
The facilities are well equipped, the four radiologists get along very well, and the amenities in the area are endless. The beach, championship golf, amusement parks, malls, restaurants, clay tennis courts, culture, museums, good private schools, and an airport 5 minutes from one of their hospitals. It's all here with warm, sunny weather year round.
