About Mammography Jobs

Mammography is a system that produces breasts images using a low-dose x-ray system. Viewing of the images can be done in various formats such as film at a view box or on a digital mammography work station. Mammography plays an important role in early detection of breast cancers because it can show changes in breasts up to two years before it can be felt.

Current guidelines recommend mammography screening every year for women, beginning at age 40. However women who have had breast cancer and those who are at increased risk of breast cancer should seek expert medical advice when they should begin mammograms and about the frequency of screening. Body Imagers / Cardiac Imagers

This practice covers 2 small hospitals (total beds ~220) and a hospital-owned imaging center.  The larger of the two hospitals is staffed by 4 radiologists.  The Diagnostic and Imaging Center is about a mile away and is staffed by 1 radiologist.  The smaller hospital is about 15 minutes away and is staffed by 1 radiologist.  The work volume is about 125,000 cases/year.  They have a catchment area of about 5 counties and about 100,000 people.

The group consists of 8 board-certified and/or fellowship trained radiologists who range in age from 42 to 55.  Of the 6 that are fellowship trained, 1 is in Neuro, 1 in Nucs, 1 in MRI, 1 in Women’s Imaging, and 2 in IR.  The last hire was Neuroradiologist who joined the group in July 2006.  The group has had an exclusive contract with the hospital for about 30 years.  They consider themselves a collegial group that tries to solve internal problems with frank and open discussions.

They are looking for a solid general diagnostic radiologist with special training and /or interest in body imaging.  With the addition to the practice of 3 MDCT’s, additional magnets and the advent of a PET/CT, they would like to have someone who can aggressively help grow that part of the business, including such services as musculoskeletal MRI, CTA of both peripheral and coronary arteries, and possibly virtual colonography.

Quote from one of many radiologists I have assisted:

“I had been contacted by countless recruiters from the various placement firms.”….  “Several were overly aggressive, obligating me to do things I wasn't ready to do or even harassing my family and staff.  Some were disorganized, with several people from large firms calling me asking for the same information and telling me about the same jobs.  And many just weren't listening to what I was saying, like they had no regard for my search criteria/preferences.

There was one exception - Bob Miller at MedSource Consultants.  Bob listened to me and formulated a profile of my lifestyle, motivations, interests, etc and presented me with positions that I would be interested in.  The information he had about the positions and communities was useful and I genuinely felt that he was honest (not simply trying to sell the job) and looking out for my families interests.  He was never overly aggressive.  And most of all, he was just a personable guy, easy to talk to and get along with…”  “I would recommend Bob and MedSource without hesitation to anyone in my position.”
