About Mammography Jobs
Mammography is a system that produces breasts images using a low-dose x-ray system. Viewing of the images can be done in various formats such as film at a view box or on a digital mammography work station. Mammography plays an important role in early detection of breast cancers because it can show changes in breasts up to two years before it can be felt.
Current guidelines recommend mammography screening every year for women, beginning at age 40. However women who have had breast cancer and those who are at increased risk of breast cancer should seek expert medical advice when they should begin mammograms and about the frequency of screening. A group of 38 radiologists are recruiting an additional Body Imaging radiologist, due to growth. This is the largest private practice group in this dynamic metro area performing around 600,000 exams/yr. The group covers 7 hospitals and 6 joint ventured outpatient imaging centers. The percentage of your sub-specialty would be around 50% with the balance in general and diagnostic imaging including mammo.
The call is equally spread, and they have a separate IR call. They have a full PACS system in place throughout their facilities.
Equipment includes: 3-16 slice CT scanners, 7 MRI’s, 13 Sequoia Accuson US units, and a mobile PET unit. The IR suites are all Siemens.
Salary starts in the mid-$300K’s upwards to $400K depending on experience, and the partnership tract is negotiable depending on experience, but no longer than 2 years. Partnership income is in the mid- high $500K's, which is MGMA compatible for this large desirable metropolitan community.
