About MRI Jobs
Clear and detailed pictures of internal organs and tissues can be made with MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). This test uses radiofrequency waves and a strong magnetic field rather than x-rays to provide images. The procedure helps diagnosing problems in all parts of the body. MRI is unique because it can also create detailed images of blood vessels without the use of contrast material. However there is a movement toward using special non-iodinated contrast material like gadolinium. Specialized equipment is used to perform a MRI. The conventional machine is a large cylinder magnet where a patient must lie still while the test is being preformed. (Source: radiologyinfo.com)
A group of 10 radiologists recently learned that they will be losing a partner that is planning to return to his home town in the northeastern U.S. this coming April. They need a general radiologist that can do and has an interest in interventional radiology to probably spend 25-50% of his/her clinical time in that area (depending on your preference), in addition to doing MRI, CT, US, plain films, nucs, and hopefully at least screening mammo. It is a very stable and rapidly growing group that has been in place 35+ years and it has become a larger group over the last three years as a result of them providing great service and, as a result, obtaining new hospital contracts. The hospital where they need the opening filled is a 280-bed facility that is nicely equipped and there is one other radiologist there that also does a fair amount of interventional radiology. You would have back-up help within your own hospital as well as someone to confer with on vascular cases. So, that is an area of their practice that they are experiencing success in building and would like to continue capitalizing on their efforts. The best candidate would be someone that doesn't mind the vascular side of interventional and could perform at least up the to the level of venous access procedures, arteriorgrams, and possibly diagnostic angiography. Whether fellowship trained or not is less important than finding the right interpersonal fit for this hard-working, yet very collegial group. No more than 18 months to full partnership, no buy-in, and competitive starting salary and benefits. As partners they take a week off per month (12 weeks) and you can expect 8 weeks annually until making partner. They have a very stable history with regard to their rapid expansion in the last few years and this partner leaving is the first person they will have lost in that time. They are only looking for people coming to stay for the long term and an active Florida license or the ability to get one quickly is a big plus. They can wait until July for the right candidate, but optimally they would like to get someone started in April or May.
You can live on the beach or live inland a few miles. Either way the weather is very nice all year round. Call is every 10th weeknight until 10:30 when their nighthawk service takes over, but you're able to start in the afternoon on those days making it a fairly "normal" workday.
