About MRI Tech Jobs

Clear and detailed pictures of internal organs and tissues can be made with MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). This test uses radiofrequency waves and a strong magnetic field rather than x-rays to provide images. The procedure helps diagnosing problems in all parts of the body. MRI is unique because it can also create detailed images of blood vessels without the use of contrast material. However there is a movement toward using special non-iodinated contrast material like gadolinium. Specialized equipment is used to perform a MRI. The conventional machine is a large cylinder magnet where a patient must lie still while the test is being preformed. (Source: radiologyinfo.com)

1. Certifications: ARRT (R) required, ARRT (MR) preferred.
2. Licensure: No NJ license required for MRI.
3. Experience: Should have at one year of experience working on a 3T Magnet, should also have at least three years total experience in MRI.
4. Equipment: Hospital currently has Siemens Symphony 1.5 Tesla closed magnet with Syngo Platform, they are currently installing a Siemens 3T.
5. Environment: You will be working in a very busy level II trauma facility, 700 beds---technologist will be working with one or two other technologists most times. At times could be put into a floating position which will be second shift or first shift. Traditionally will be working Monday through Friday with rotating every two of three weekends but will have two days off in a row when working weekends.
