About Nuclear Medicine Jobs
Nuclear medicine is a subspecialty of radiology. Examinations are made from images of the body and its functions. The images are developed based on the detection of emitted energy from a radioactive material given to patients. It can be given either by injecting it directly into a vein or be given by mouth. For the most part, the amount of radiation to a patient is similar to that of a standard x-ray test.
Generally it takes 20 to 45 minutes to complete the scan. Depending on the type of scan it could be done immediately after the radiopharmaceutical agent is given, a few hours later, or even several days after the injection.(Source: radiologyinfo.com)

Denver Radiology Opening
A large group in Denver, Colorado is looking to bring on a mammographer in a partnership track position. This position will be a partnership position or an employed position depending on whether call is taken or not. The position can offer 100% mammography or a majority of mammography plus a small portion of diagnostic radiology if call is taken. The incoming mammographer will be responsible for diagnostic reads as well as interventional procedures at a number of localized world-class mammography centers which house digital mammography as well as some of the most advanced equipment suites in the world.
Partnership track is 3 years with 8 weeks of vacation to start that will grow to 10 weeks. The group experience a five day work week with about 20 random days off built into the schedule. Night call is taken by the radiologists 3 weeks out of the year, and weekend call is taken about 12 weekends per year. The doctors on call will enjoy a relaxing, luxury galley at the hospital.
This group takes a lot of pride it its approach to medicine and they prefer to have their own radiologists interpreting the cases rather than relying on remote overseas networks. The position offers good compensation, full benefits, malpractice insurance, a CME allowance and 401k plan. This is a very well trained, egalitarian group, with a very low turnover and a great package.
