Nuclear Med Tech


Under indirect supervision, ASSISTS Nuclear Medicine Physician in performance and evaluation of clinical procedures including preparation, calibration and administration of radioactive drugs; PERFORMS quality assurance procedures on all equipment; OPERATES complex imaging and non-imaging systems; ASSISTS authorized users in radionuclide therapeutic procedures; APPLIES radiation health and safety knowledge to all facets of job; PROVIDES patient education and quality patient care; MAINTAINS courteous, cooperative relations when interacting with public, Health Plan members and others; SUPPORTS compliance and Principles of Responsibility; MAINTAINS confidentiality; PROTECTS organizational assets; EXHIBITS ethics and integrity; ADHERES to applicable federal and state laws and regulations, accreditation and licensing requirements, policies and procedures; REPORTS and/or RESOLVES issues of non-compliance.
On a regular, sustained basis, COOPERATES with other staff members both within and outside the department in accomplishment of own job duties as well as assisting others in accomplishing theirs. SERVES as team player and role model for other employees in the Organization; always exhibiting traits of courtesy, caring, helpfulness and respect. CONDUCTS oneself in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, cooperative, sensitive, respectful and kind when dealing with members, visitors, the public and all employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING
Associate's degree in nuclear medicine technology.

Equivalent combination of education (lesser) & experience may be considered in lieu of requirements.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Valid CA Nuclear Medicine Technologist license (must meet education requirement(s) for CA State licensure).

Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist (RT)(N) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.

EXPERIENCE/OTHER
One year (2,080 hours) general radiology experience as a registered technologist, including experience or successful completion of training program (pre-hire, post-hire, or on-the-job) in area of specialty, if applicable.

Two years (4,160 hours) nuclear medicine technology experience.
Experience in radiopharmaceutical management, quality control of instruments, operating imaging equipment (planar and SPECT) and non-imaging equipment and radionuclide therapy administration
