About Radiology Physician Jobs
Employment of physicians will grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through the year 2012 due to continued expansion of the health care industries. The growing and aging population will drive overall growth in the demand for physician services, as consumers continue to demand high levels of care using the latest technologies, diagnostic tests, and therapies. Reason for this 14-member practice's search is related to overall growth of their volume as well as in the community. They need a geral radiologist capable of doing everything except interventional radiology, but especially mammography. They have a big comprehensive breast center inside of their 20,000 sq ft imaging center (co-owned with their hospital) and they need someone willing to spend a day a week in the breast center. If someone wanted two days (which would equal about 40% mammo) they could accommodate that. But all they need is someone that doesn't detest breast work who will embrace the opportunity to spend a day a week in this state of the art facility doing screening as well as procedures (streotactic biopsies, US, needle locs, etc.) and be able to all other general radilology the other four days of the week. They have very up to date radiology equipment and overall it is a very stable group that has been in place for 3-4 decades. Not much turnover of people over the years, except for retirements, and people that come here usually stay. Preference is for someone more recently trained that is looking for a long term opportunity.
General Group Info: This is an ideal opportunity for a radiologist looking to be in a gorgeous part of Tennessee. Close to the Appalachian Mountains, it is part of an area of that truly is one of the most beautiful in the U.S. They only cover one hospital and a local medical clinic, so there’s no chasing around anywhere for business. They all get along extremely well as a group and have done very well with retaining people they have brought on board. They are doing a manageable amount of volume and like to be able to focus on the quality of their work and the service they provide. But with virtually no managed care they still make a great income and take a fair amount of time off (11 weeks as partners).
They definitely need someone with a great work ethic, but just as important is to find someone with a nice, laid back personality who will fit in well interpersonally. They provide great service to their referring physicians and they absolutely have to have someone with a good, service-oriented philosophy. It’s The South and the folks on the medical staff are said to be not only well-trained, but mostly easy-going people and someone who is gruff or abrupt in their communications may not fit in very well. Their hospital is and always has done very well. It is a beautiful facility that has had several additions built onto it over the years and is now one of the largest hospitals in the state. And relations between radiology and administration are excellent. The group has been here for 35+ years and are the only group to have ever been in this hospital. But it is a great group of people who are easy-going, team-oriented, and just looking for a partner who wants to settle here for the long term. They are not overly demanding people and this is the kind of practice where you can rest assured that if you work hard, provide a good service, and just be a team player you’ll become a partner and earn a good income for as long as you like. Their future is bright, but they need someone with the general, MRI and mammo skills to help them get to where they want to be. They want someone who is energetic and whose first question is less likely to be, “What can this practice do for me?” than "How can my skills benefit this practice the most?" They have a nighthawk service that takes over before or at midnight and the interventional rads take care of most all specials that come up on call. General call rotation and fairly infrequent with being a fairly large group and only covering one hospital.
Community: An utterly gorgeous part of the country located in northeast Tennessee nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. This is a very prosperous city with only 4% unemployment and excellent public school systems. Their public school systems are said to be so good, that most people wouldn’t need to worry about spending the money on private schools. There are private schools if the needs are not met with the public systems, but they are among the best in the state. They have good restaurants, lots of shopping, and most any big-city amenity or need can be met in one of the three cities. You are close to Asheville, NC and a couple of hours east of Knoxville, TN. But these communities are as pretty and green as you can imagine. It is a safe area with a low COL and a growing economy where you can feel good about raising your kids here and retiring from this group, maybe earlier than expected.
