Employment of physicians will grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through the year 2012 due to continued expansion of the health care industries. The growing and aging population will drive overall growth in the demand for physician services, as consumers continue to demand high levels of care using the latest technologies, diagnostic tests, and therapies. Interventional Radiologist

Reason for this nine-member group's search is a result of having suddenly lost one of their interventional radiologists late last year. Overall five of the people in the group can handle most anything IR wise that comes up on call. It's very rare that the back-up gets called, but it happens and it happened to the departed partner one time last November and he didn't answer the call. A surgeon got very upset and as a result the radiologist resigned giving only the 30 days notice required by his contract. So, they have been without a second interventional radiologist since the end of December and need one to take his place ASAP. You can expect to spend about 80% of your clinical time doing interventional procedures and 20% doing everything else except mammography. The partner they lost had been with them for seven years and it is a big loss, but they hope to replace him with someone equally competent who is looking for a long term opportunity.

It is a very stable group overall with a lot of pluses. One being that they work a four-day workweek. In addition they take nine full weeks of vacation allowing for a nice lifestyle for everyone. Administration has been very good to them over the years and they have recently added a 64-slice CT scanner as well as a fixed PET CT unit. They have a nucs trained rad that reads most of the PET. Overall, it's a very well trained group, one with a MSK background and several with imaging fellowships, as well as the other interventionist. It is not an archaic group, however. They have been in this 500-bed hospital for 10 years and for the most part have younger, more recently trained radiologists that make up their group. They also cover a local 70-doc multi-speicalty group which adds a fair amount of work for them annually. The guy who formed the group in 1998 recruited four fellows straight out of training and three are still there to this day. It is an egalitarian type of group and an equal partnership to the core.  Their turnover in their 10 years has been minimal. They are most interested in someone looking to come here as their last job. The other interventional radiologist has been with the group from the start and is said to be a very affable, easy to work with person. An interventional radiologist coming out of training or making a move from another setting will feel very comfortable here from the start.

The community is over 100K and has its own regional airport as well as 2-3 malls, two universities, 4-5 golf courses, a Children's Museum, and very good public and private schools. As well, you're 1-3 hours from four metropolitan areas for weekend getaways and/or medical conferences, etc. It is a very safe, family oriented city that is growing, but still has that smaller town feel which is what a lot of physicians are looking for these days. Call or email/fax your CV for more details.
