About Radiology Physician Jobs
Employment of physicians will grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through the year 2012 due to continued expansion of the health care industries. The growing and aging population will drive overall growth in the demand for physician services, as consumers continue to demand high levels of care using the latest technologies, diagnostic tests, and therapies. Five-member group covering three imaging centers and one small rural hospital seeks a general radiologist for their outpatient, no-call private practice opportunity in anticipation of a partner's retirement sometime between January and June of 2009. All locations covered, except the lone rural hospital they cover, are in the suburbs of St. Louis with one imaging center being on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River. This is primarily an outpatient, no-call practice. Clinically they need a general radiologist who can do everything short of angio interventional. They do a lot of MRI and CT as well as US, fluoro, plain films, mammo and nucs. Mammo is defintiely required and it would be a plus if someone could provide the ability to do a needle biopsy. Nothing invasive needed beyond basic biopsies, occasional drainage procedure, myelograms, athrograms, para and thorascentesis. The imaging modalities is where they concentrate their efforts and though they do work very hard, it is very much set up as a lifestyle practice whereby you can know that when you're done reading studies at whichever location you are covering, you are off for the night. All five radiologists have families and can appreciate the need to be home for dinner. But they also want someone still with plenty of years left to practice who is going to come in with an innate work ethic to help them continue growing the practice to its full potential. They have owned an operated an imaging center in the western suburbs of St. Louis for many years and took over reading at another busy center on the Illinois side about 15 minutes from downtown 1 1/2 years ago. In July 2007 they opened a third center in which they have a 40% ownership interest. So, the opportunity to buy in to real hard assets and be in control of your destiny definitely exists here. It is an equal partnership and a very laid back, democratic group of guys. Length of the track to partnership is negotiable based on the skills and experience someone brings to the table. They are not opposed to considering a very short term to partnership for the right, experienced candidate. Equal vacation from the outset, which will be at least eight weeks. Also 1-2 extra days off per month, so in many respects it's like a 4 1/2 day workweek and Monday-Friday with no call. Weekends are1:5, but it's about a 1/2 day of one weekend working at a single imaging center. All locations are linked via PACS and the equipment at all locations is excellent. In addition to salary and bonus you can expect a benefit package worth $70-80K that includes all standard benefits including retirement contribution. The people in this group are very easy going and take great pains to make sure they serve their referring physicians to the best of their ability. In an outpatient setting those relationships really are the building blocks for future success. They are definitely on the right track.
