Employment of physicians will grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through the year 2012 due to continued expansion of the health care industries. The growing and aging population will drive overall growth in the demand for physician services, as consumers continue to demand high levels of care using the latest technologies, diagnostic tests, and therapies. General rad w/ MRI and/or mammo

This 15-member group's search is based on the fact that the retirement of two part-timers is on the horizon and their practice volume continues to grow.  Clinically, they need a well-rounded imager who is willing to do an equitable amount of mammography or a mammo person able to do other general radiology.  They don't have a big preference over which type of radiologist they get as their volume, coupled with the number of radiologists they have, will allow them to accommodate either a good imager that wants to do a fair amount of CT and MRI or a breast imager that would like to keep his/her skills up in other modalities. No angio or special procedures needed.

General Group Info: This is a very stable group that is looking for nothing but people who are coming for the long term.  Family ties or a reason to be on the East Coast would be great as they have one of the most stable histories of any group in the country.  They have been together since 1957, which is when the hospital opened, and have always had very sound relations with administration.  There isn’t much head-to-head competition for this hospital and it has always done very well financially.  It has always run in the black and continues to be managed well.  They cover a 300-bed hospital and two clinics in town, so there isn’t any chasing around for other business.  They do have two outlying hospitals of 80 beds each, but they are covered by two radiologists who live near those communities.  Their equipment at the main hospital is excellent with most everything being less than two years old.  They have an up-to-date PACS system in place at the hospital as well as high-speed teleradiology, newer CTs, excellent MRI magnets, nucs (including dual and tri-head units as well as a Hybrid PETunit), and they recently replaced all of their US units.  All of their fluoro is digital, filmless reading of all films and the rest of the department has been switched to filmless CT and MR for more than two years.  It is a very well set up department that allows them to maximize their efficiency.  They say they are fairly picky about who they hire and want to make sure they are bringing on good people.  They don’t use and abuse people, but it is a busy practice and they need someone with a good work ethic who can come in and pretty quickly be able to pull their share of the load.  They all get along extremely well and enjoy a great lifestyle.  They say it is pretty easy to get folks interested in their area once they come and see it, provided they have never been to the area.  It is a great opportunity for anyone that is looking to be on the Atlantic Coast.  It is close enough to D.C. to visit on weekends, but far away from its other sub-optimal qualities.

Call: Have a nighthawk system in place for general call.

Community: Sits near the James River/Sound which empties into Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.  Nesteled in with other cosmopolitan-sized communities, it is part of a metro area of 1.2 million people.  Virtually every big-city amenity imaginable is here and what isn’t present is just 180 miles north in D.C.  It is just an hour from the state capital, Richmond, and overall it would be hard to find a nicer place to live.  Their area always rates highly in Money Magazine’s best places to live.  Plenty of restaurants, shopping, great schools, universities nearby, historic Williamsburg nearby and so very close to Virginia Beach for all the fun the ocean offers.  Boating is a big deal here and there is every variety of it one can think of.  It is a safe place to raise a family and a great place to spend the rest of your career.  Cost of living is reasonable and the area is growing like crazy.
