Pediatric Radiologist

This “hybrid” private/academic program is seeking their eighth, full-time faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Radiology. The successful candidate will participate in the clinical and educational programs of their comprehensive division. An interest in research is preferred as the practice offers no less than 20% academic time! Expansion includes a new ten-story tower and a new ED at the children’s hospital, making it one of the largest in the country.

A wide variety of pediatric imaging is performed in the section and there is an opportunity for growth in various areas. An interest in pediatric neuroradiology, pediatric intervention, or pediatric-MSK imaging is a plus, but not required. Currently, a gap exists in pediatric body/cardiac imaging, so this area would also be a plus. Their diverse case mix is due to the affiliation with the university, veterans, children’s, community, county, suburban and various private hospitals, although the primary location will be the Children’s hospital. The departments are entirely all state-of-the-art, completely digital, and the program has outstanding relationships with Phillips and Siemen’s. There are upgrades coming within the next year with respect to MR, with the addition of a new 3T and two 1.5T.

Call is in support of the residents and fellows, and will be roughly only one in seven weeks. One member shares pediatric and adult call, and therefore has a reduced rotation in the call schedule

There is negotiability for initial compensation based on experience and current rank, and typically no more than one year to partnership for practicing physicians. There is preference for incoming pediatric radiologists to join on the tenure track.

The comprehensive benefits package is worth roughly $75,000 and includes: malpractice coverage; 10 weeks of vacation and six holidays; medical, dental, disability and life insurance; pretax account for vision coverage; fully funded pension and profit sharing accounts; and a negotiable relocation package.

The group and section are quite cohesive. It is crucial for the incoming physician to be able to work in a team environment, collaborating with referring clinicians and sub-specialists. There are also occasional social events the section participates in, including the technologists.
