The Florida Board of Medicine evaluates applications for licensure and examination, conducts board meetings, administers policy, issues final orders in imposing discipline, reviews and approves continuing education providers, and audits licensure compliance for continuing education.
Newly Created Chief Medical Officer position due to growth within the Organization
Location: Warm Sunny Florida!
Our client has retained our organization to fill the Chief Medical Officer position just recently created.
....serving North Florida.....
The company is a non-profit hospice/palliative care organization running about $55 million. They currently have 4 free-standing hospice care centers and 3 in-home hospice. They currently have over 600 staff and 1,000 volunteers. They are currently in a growth spurt and have made the decision they need to create a CMO position to help them move the organization to the next level. The CEO runs his organization truly as a business.
For the CMO position, the person will be responsible and accountable for providing leadership (over 13 people - 4 FT Med Dir, 3 PT Med Dir, 2 PRN Med Dir, 2 FT ARNPs, 1 FT Pharmacy Director), medical oversight and direction for the medical operations including the development, deployment, leadership, and management of Medical Staff resources. The role will be 80% administrative/20% clinical. The person MUST HAVE very strong medical management exp (strong physician leadership), MD degree from an accredited medical school, current licensure in at least one state, and eligibility for licensure in Florida. The physician must have at least 5 years experience in active clinical practice and board certification with 7 - 10 years of medical leadership experience, managing providers preferably within a healthcare organization with collaborative arrangements and a strong managed care focus. (He will look at someone coming from a health plan). You must be able to forge relationships in the community (must be engaging) and be a part of the community medical society. An important part of his job will be building those relationships and working with major academia centers and teaching institutions.
The physician they are seeking is one that is really excited about the company’s mission and has a true passion for the industry and what this company is doing. They are seeking people who want to help build and develop and not those who are more at status quo in their career and what they do. The CEO is definitely seeking people who really want to stay a while and be a part of something exciting.
