Shift: 1st Shift, 7:30am-6pm

Shift Days: Mon-Fri

Call: Yes, 24 hour on call on a rotating basis

Equipment Type: Acuson Sequoia and GE Vivid I Cardio

Notes: RVT required. Echo experience a plus. Three years minimum expericence.

Types of Procedures: Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy, atherosclerosis, vasospasm, venous obstruction, upper and lower extremities, nec, ab, thorax other than the heart.

Job Purpose:

Produces and evaluates ultrasound images and related data by utilizing high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques.

Duties:

* Facilitates diagnostic results by obtaining, reviewing, and bringing together pertinent patient history, physical examination, and supporting clinical data.

* Registers patients by entering patient identifying information into computer; updating medical database; obtaining patient consent forms.

* Determines test procedures by reviewing the purpose of the examination.

* Comforts patients by explaining procedures; assisting patient in proper positioning.

* Ensures test results by selecting transducer; making equipment adjustments according to nature of test, depth of field, and other specifications of test.

* Conducts test procedures by moving transducer by hand over specified area of body; monitoring movement on display screen.

* Makes sure the image produced facilitates diagnosis by observing sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasound image produced.

* Facilitates diagnoses by producing, assessing, and evaluating ultrasound images and related data used by physicians to render a medical diagnosis.

* Records information by entering test data and patient information into computer; recording diagnostic data on magnetic tape, computer disk, strip printout, or film; producing permanent record of test results.

* Maintains equipment and software by following operating instructions; performing quality control checks of sonographic equipment; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance procedures; backing up computer software and data; calling for repairs and information technology support.

* Maintains quality results by establishing, following, and enforcing standards.

* Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by developing policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations, and jacho standards; anticipating emerging issues.

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

* Enhances sonography and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
