About Rad Tech Jobs
A radiology technologist (RT), also referred to as a radiographer or rad tech, operates x-ray equipment to produce medical images. The process begins with reassuring the patient and obtaining their cooperation. They continue by positioning the patient on the examining table to obtain the best possible views for the test. Next the radiographer moves the imaging equipment into position and makes necessary adjustments to set the exposure based on established guidelines.
To prevent personal radiation exposure, a technologist uses protection such as lead shields, and limits x-ray beam size. Some Rad Techs may also operate mobile x-ray equipment to acquire images in the emergency room, operating room, or even at the patient's bedside.
