Chief Radiation Therapist


Redwood Regional Medical Group (RRMG) is the largest integrated radiology, oncology and surgery practice in California. With 43 board-certified physicians and a staff of more than 300, we serve over 500 patients daily at 11 locations in Northern California.

Under the general direction of the VP of Operations, the Chief Radiation Therapist will coordinate, assign and oversees the performance of the Radiation Therapy staff's performance in order to provide high quality, cost-effective patient care.  The individual in this role will also perform radiation therapy procedures as staffing and workload requires. 

Duties

  • Provides direct supervision of the Radiation Therapists. 
  • Assures that department standards are current, appropriate and followed consistently.
  • Evaluates and ensures that technical performance is accurate, precise and conforms to the prescribed plan of treatment. 
  • Develops QI and QA initiatives.
  • Monitors compliance with departmental as well as regulatory policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborates with the Physicians, Physicists, Dosimetrists, Nursing and support staff to plan and implement corrective action(s) in order to improve treatment delivery standards.
  • Demonstrates excellence in customer service with both external and internal persons.
  • Responsible for development and execution of new employee orientation and training.
  • Determines technical staff development needs and facilitates staff education programs.
  • Analyzes trends, identifies opportunities and implements changes in systems or technology to improve efficiency, productivity and promote cost containment.
  • Facilitates implementation of new technology, products and supplies
  • Responsible for scheduling the evaluation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  • Promotes staff understanding and involvement in regards to fiscal management of the departments.
  • Responsible for budget planning for the department.

 Requirements:

  • Completion of a therapeutic radiological technology training program at an approved school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is highly desirable. 
  • Certified Radiological Technologist in State of California.
  • ARRT Certification required.
  • 5+ years of experience as a staff radiation therapist.
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Willingness to travel and work at multiple sites on a consistent basis an absolute must.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements specific to radiation therapy.   
  • Ability to constantly re-prioritize and shift focus in a fast-paced environment.
