About Radiation Therapy Jobs
Radiation therapists (RTT) work with radiation oncologists and are an integral part of the cancer care team. They are responsible for delivering a prescribed course of radiation under a doctor's prescription and supervision. They maintain daily records and regularly check machines to ensure they are working properly. They interact regularly with very ill, grieving individuals and faces special demands and daily challenges.
Radiation therapists go through a two-to-four year educational program following high school or college. They take a special examination and must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT). In addition, many states require that radiation therapists be licensed.
