About Radiology Jobs
According to the AMA, only 1.2% of physicians specialize in radiology (compare that with 16.7% of physicians that practice the specialty of internal medicine). The radiologist is unlike other physicians because diagnoses and interpretations are made from medical images. Images are taken in a variety of ways by using x-rays or with radioactive substances. Some images are produced by sound waves or the body's innate magnetism. Along with the medical image findings, a radiologist correlates them with other tests, and makes recommendations for additional examinations or treatments.(Source: radiologyinfo.com)
A group of 8 full-time and 3 part-time radiologists are looking to add a newly fellowship trained Breast Imager/Mammographer to grow the breast imaging side of the group. The group covers 1 main hospital (250+ beds) and 4 smaller hospitals via PACS. They also have a joint venture imaging center with the hospital, that the ideal candidate would primarily be based out of. They have great relations with the hospital administrations. They are fully digital and have GE workstations throughout. They are currently doing screening mammo, diagnostic mammo, US, US biopsies, breast gamma and would like to expand into stereotactic biopsies, breast MR, etc... They have been approved for the breast MR CAD and ideal candidate would be involved with picking equipment. The radiology group has the opportunity to be on the forefront of the clinical development involving breast cancer. They are very open to the type position (employee vs. partnership) and are open to negotiations for the right candidate. For example, they have a partnership position with a call involved that would be 1:8 on the weekdays and 1:4 on the weekends doing about 60-70% breast imaging OR they would consider doing a partnership with 100% breast imaging, no call with less vacation. Initial salary starts in the low-mid $300K's and upwards to $400K's, with partnership no longer than 2 years, all depending on experience. Partner's earning are in excess of $550K. Benefits include: malpractice, health insurance, disability insurance, 401K, CME stipend, negotiable relo package, etc...
