About Radiology Jobs

According to the AMA, only 1.2% of physicians specialize in radiology (compare that with 16.7% of physicians that practice the specialty of internal medicine). The radiologist is unlike other physicians because diagnoses and interpretations are made from medical images. Images are taken in a variety of ways by using x-rays or with radioactive substances. Some images are produced by sound waves or the body's innate magnetism. Along with the medical image findings, a radiologist correlates them with other tests, and makes recommendations for additional examinations or treatments.(Source: radiologyinfo.com)

Body Imager w/PET-CT and SPECT

A radiology group consisting of 5 diagnostic radiologists and 2 interventionalists, all of which are partners, are looking to add a Body Imaging/Cross sectional radiologist, that has strengths in oncologic reads such as PET-CT, CT-SPECT, etc... They are looking because there is a strong oncology group that is referring interpretations to the group and opening a cancer center Nov. 1, 2009. The group covers 3 hospitals, totaling about 550 beds and two hospital owned imaging centers. Each diagnostic member of the group reads about 24K exams. They have excellent relations and receive great support from the hospital administrations. You can expect at least 50% Body/cross-sectional interpretations with the remainder time reading general radiology. Ideal candidate wants to interact with clinicians. The group is very collegial. Each radiologist puts in their fair time and have strong work ethics. Equipment includes: MR: open 1-Tesla, 3-Tesla Phillips, 3- 1.5 Tesla Phillips, digital mammo, CT: 2-64 slice, CT-SPECT 64 slice, 2-16 slice, CT/PET, Accuson US units, Siemens US units and a 4-D GE US unit. They have recently installed a GE Centricity PACS with the newest upgrades. Call will be 1:6 weekdays and 1:6 weekends. There is a nighthawk in place from 10pm-6:30am Monday through Sunday. Initial income is at least $400K with no more than a two year partnership tract depending on experience. Partner's earnings are in excess of $700K! Bonuses are paid bi-weekly.
