Excellent Florida Coastal Outpatient Imaging Opportunity, Mon-Fri, No Call!
Subspecialty: Diagnostic Radiology

Excellent outpatient imaging opportunity for a well-rounded general radiologist seeking a stable practice opportunity on Florida's Atlantic Coast. The practice covers two impressively-equipped imaging centers that are ACR-accredited with the oldest of the two having been in business for nearly 25 years. If stability, lifestyle, warm weather and the ability to practice the highest quality radiology are high on your list of priorities, then this is an opportunity that you ought to explore.

Fellowship training is a plus but not at all mandatory. Most any fellowship they can accommodate as they perform a good variety of all modalities: MRI, CT, US, nuc med (no PET), digital mammo, breast MRI, fluoro, plain films and very basic IR procedures (arthrograms, GI/GU, myelograms) and only around 10 procedures per week amongst both locations. The ideal candidate would come in the door able to do everything the centers are currently doing, but they are willing to proctor the right candidate into anything they might need help with. They average 240-250 studies per day total and that is covered by three radiologists. One is semi-retiring and he will remain active in the practice for extra coverage, covering for vacations, CME, etc. It is essentially Mon-Fri with no call, but 1:3 Saturdays is required for a radiologist to come in for 2-3 hours. However, if you have your own reading station the Saturday duties can be performed from home.

The centers are owned by a parent healthcare company that provides a wide array of services to employers, hospitals, physicians, insurers and the general public. There are more than 600 unique physicians that refer patients to their imaging centers and with their ability to offer same-day results to a patient's scan, it has grown the volume significantly over the last several years. They have developed a reputation in the community as a provider of the highest quality medical services. They have excellent equipment with each center housing a Siemens 1.5 Essenza MRI and 128-slice CT units. Also dual head E-cams, four US units, digital fluoro and a Hologic mammo setup. Images are sent quickly to a radiologist via PACS, which allows for easy comparison studies and same-day turnaround of interpretations. Their technologists are said to be very good and they are also able to do other basic things outside of radiology like stress testing, echo, calcium scoring and stroke risk screening.

The two longest-tenured radiologists have been here for 14-16 years and it takes three radiologists to run the practice daily. This is definitely a long-term opportunity where you can feel good about being able to put down roots, buy a home, and settle in until retirement if desired. They seek someone that is looking for this level of stability with hopes that the candidate can help them continue growing their imaging business and referral base. Credentialing can be completed much faster than in a hospital environment, likely 45 days or less, so if a candidate is Florida-licensed they can get you started pretty quickly. Ideal start date is October-November but they can wait until summer for the right candidate. 2020 fellows are encouraged to apply. Competitive salary and great benefit package on top of that along with eight weeks of vacation plus two weeks CME. Also willing to explore independent contractor status if it makes more sense for certain candidates with other part-time radiology duties elsewhere.

Discover the Mid-Atlantic Coast and all it has to offer: beaches, wind surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, other water sports and of course boating/sailing. Tons of retaurants and located less than an hour from Orlando as well as many other attractions up and down the Atlantic Coast. The geography is stunning from the many miles of beaches to other world famous attractions. Outdoor enthusiasts have 20,000 acres of freshwater rivers and lakes bordered by approximately 170,000 acres of wetlands to explore by foot or boat. Located where temperate and sub-tropical climate zones meet, visitors can find animals and plants here that are found nowhere else on earth.

This is a great place to raise a family or finish your radiology career with year-round warm weather, fiendly people and a stable local economy. Email your CV to gatewaydocs@earthlink.net with a best time to be reached by phone for more information.
