Diagnostic Radiography Program Director

 

 

The full time radiology program director at Sanford-Brown Institute has the primary function of assisting the school in development and maintaining a quality program of instruction.  The program director shall also provide services to the college, instruction, and continuing professional development.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assess department staffing needs.
  • Assist in departmental recruitment efforts as determined by the Director of Education.
  • Orient new departmental faculty members and train in program and techniques as designed by Sanford-Brown Institute.
  • Assist with the evaluation of departmental faculty and staff.
  • Recommend professional development activities to the Director of Education.
  • Instruct classes as assigned by the Director of Education.
  • Act as a substitute instructor as needed.
  • Propose a schedule of course offerings and teaching assignments to be offered in the upcoming module.
  • Conduct salary reviews in coordination with the Director of Education.
  • Maintain course syllabi and course materials for all courses in his or her department.
  • Supervise departmental didactic faculty and clinical faculty or coordinator.
  • Supervise the planning, use, maintenance, and inventory of facilities and materials assigned to the department (including laboratory).
  • Advise the Director of Education and the School President of departmental needs and requirements for inclusion in the annual school budget.
  • Assist in developing and updating the curriculum in conjunction with the corporate office.
  • Schedule and conduct department meetings.
  • Communicate with departmental faculty to obtain input and recommendations for the improvement of the school.
  • Counsel students and faculty members as needed to ensure a successful department.
  • Supervise and administer retention programs for the department to ensure attrition remains within acceptable guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of Radiology through professional development (i.e. CME and professional seminars) and scholarly activities (i.e. published works, syllabi revisions, and/or curriculum revisions).
  • Perform duties and responsibilities required of an instructor as appropriate.
  • Post and maintain office and classroom schedules.
  • Ensure all grades within the department are posted in a timely manner.
  • Schedule, conduct, and maintain Advisory Committee Meetings.
  • Perform other duties as required by the School President, Director of Education, and Corporate.

 

The candidate we seek will possess the following:

  • The Program Director must possess hold, at minimum, a master’s degree.
  • The Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiography Program shall hold American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification or equivalent and be registered/licensed to practice in the pertinent discipline.
  • The program director must be proficient in curriculum design, program administration, evaluation, instruction and counseling
  • The Program Director must document the equivalent of three years full time experience in the professional discipline.
  • The program director must document two years experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program.
  • Proficiency in instructional methodology and techniques.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Management skills.
  • Previously demonstrated proficiency in curriculum design and development, program administration supervision, instruction, methods of evaluation, and counseling is strongly desired.
