Living in the Roaring Fork Valley
There are so many great reasons to live in the Roaring Fork Valley. You will find an outdoor paradise here. From fishing, skiing, mountain biking, camping or attending a world-renowned event, this valley has it all. However, as with any place, the Roaring Fork Valley has its drawbacks too. Probably the most important thing to understand is the relatively high cost of living. AVH recognizes this and as such compensation is higher than you will find in most facilities.
Housing
Aspen Valley Hospital owns several studio, one-bedroom; and two-bedroom units. These units are available at a heavily discounted rent for employees. The facility also offers these units to new employees as a means to temporarily (up to 90 days) assist with the transition into our community and locate a rental in the valley. Employees are entered in a lottery system for a 2-year lease. There are no pets or smoking allowed in AVH units.
The Aspen/Pitkin Housing office also administers a program for local residents. The Housing Office has an inventory of over 1400 rent-controlled units. www.aspenhousingoffice.com
Our valley is composed of a variety of other towns in which to live besides Aspen. About 90% of Aspen Valley Hospital’s employees live outside of town in areas such as Basalt, El Jebel, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs. The further away from Aspen, the more affordable housing becomes.
