The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist has the responsibility to perform highly complex examinations as part of a medical team, under the general direction of a supervisory radiologist. Examination procedures are frequently made additionally complex due to serious illness or injury, mental or physical incapacity of the patient or similar conditions which require the technologist to devise non-standard positioning or equipment set-ups or make it difficult or impossible to communicate with the patient.

Perform many high complex examinations under the direction of supervisory radiologist.

Receives patients by checking name, SSN and or DOB and explaining the procedures to be performed.

Verifies that female patients are not pregnant Selects and sets technical factors using established criteria.

Sets up and adjusts accessory equipment as required Makes exposures necessary for the required procedures.

Takes films/images to daylight processor for processing Edits films/images for quality of images, positioning and appropriate ID's Enters required data into the Decentralized Hospital Computer System.

Maintaining records of patients treated, examinations performed, views images taken and settings used.

Performs routine examinations of chest, joints, images taken and settings used Checks equipment for working conditions prior to contacting the physician.

Set up x-ray rooms, assuring the sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters and other requirement are present and laid out.

Provides portable x-rays throughout the medical centers while keeping other staff safe from radiation exposure.

Assures cleanliness of the exam room and restocks supplies at the end of every tour.

Maintains courteous customer service skills towards patients, visitor and staff.

Remains on duty until relief of next tour arrives Follows more difficult and complex protocols as prescribed by the MRI Radiologist.

It is expected that these assignments unique and may require expert specialization in complex areas of MRI to include imaging of the head, neck, spine, abdomen, chest as well as lower extremities and various other duties related to specialty.

High School Diploma
Completed an accredited educational training program in which the Technologist is
certified as Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists by the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologist (ARRT) and must be certified for their specialty.
Current certification in the Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
Two years experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment to include the
o OEC - 9400, 9600, 9800 C-ARM
o AMX - 4 Portable X- Ray machines
o Siemens Mobilett XP/XP ECO/XP Hybrid Mobile x-ray units
o G.E. Advantax Routine/Fluoro Equipment
o Fuji information Manager/Processing Units
o Siemens Axiom Aristos

Abilities Required:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to maintain a professional demeanor and interface with high level medical providers,
clients and Altos management and employees.
