The Interventional Radiologic (IR) Technologist II projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the Cardiac Cath Lab mission. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard procedures and policies and conforms to them. This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, quality control requirements, specific regulatory requirements of Title 22, California Licensing & Certification of Health Facilities; Title 17, California Radiation Control Regulations; and, preventive maintenance.

Essential Functions:

  • Competent in left heart hemodynamic and physiological measurement recording on current system
  • Proven competencies in rhythm and dysrhythmia recognition
  • Ability to operate multiple specialized modalities to include, but not limited to, pressure transducers, blood oximetry and thermodilution cardiac output.
  • Setup of dedicated equipment for physiological coronary flow reserve, intravascular and intracardiac ultrasound, pressure injectors, atherectomy systems and thrombus extraction devices
  • Scrub assist advances to interventional procedures to include; coronary and endovascular stents, electrophysiology/ablation; pacemaker and defibrillator generator implants and intra-atrial occlusion device implants
  • Assists with daily inventory scanning of patient encounters to web-based tracking system
  • Standby/on call required with a 30-minute response time requirement
  • Performs other duties as assigned that does not violate laws or regulations that require personnel with special licensure.

Follows the specialty focus:

  • Must be trained and proficient in the use of all Radiology equipment in the hybrid OR and capable of performing all (HVI/Radiology) procedures to be performed in the hybrid OR.

Education, Training, Experiences:

Required:

  • Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Current State of California certification and licensure in Fluoroscopy and Radiography.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Certification.
  • Current ACLS & BLS Certifications.
  • Recent Cath Lab experience performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac and/or endovascular and/or electrophysiology/devices and/or proficient in use of all equipment in the hybrid OR. Recent radiology experience with satisfactory evaluations and a desire to learn invasive procedures.

Preferred:

  • 6 – 8 years recent Cath Lab, electrophysiology or interventional radiology experience with responsibility for scrub and monitoring duties.

Skills or Other Qualifications:

Required:

  • Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, ability to follow instructions, knowledge of section specific test information and instrumentation may be required. Windows XP or Windows computer knowledge.
  • Stand-By/On-Call with 30 Minute Response Time.
