Under direct supervision of the Breast Imaging Manager, and Medical Director, Breast Imaging technologist will produce diagnostic images of the breast utilizing a variety of mammography and DEXA equipment. Duties include patient education prior to the examination; preparation of needed supplies and equipment set up; assist in performing sterile technique procedures as required; follow established quality assurance procedures; maintain patient dignity and confidentiality; assist Radiologist as needed; perform related duties as requested. Maintain departmental standards related to MQSA data tracking and Quality Control requirements.

Exercise strict patient confidentiality. Monitor patient’s comfort while in the radiology department. Demonstrate a professional attitude by being courteous towards patients, co-workers, and physicians

Review Radiology request for appropriateness. Coordinate exams with other services as needed. Perform first aid on patients until further assistance can be obtained to maintain patient’s health. Maintain accurate up-to-date records of procedures performed. Ensure Radiology requisitions are properly completed. Initiate proper requests for required maintenance or repair of equipment. Inspect all devices for damage and ensure they are operating within accepted parameters. Maintain accurate record of all supplies used and initiate orders to maintain supply par levels. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion. Comply with Medical Center health and infection control policies. Comply with personnel standards in employee and technologist handbooks. Adhere to departmental attendance and tardiness policies.

Float between all UCLA Health Department of Radiology locations (Palos Verdes, Westlake Village, North Hollywood, BLOC imaging, Calabasas). Adhere to on-call, holiday, and weekend schedules as prepared by the manager. Participate in rotating shifts as required.

Breast Imaging technologist are expected to possess the skills to perform digital mammography, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position; graduate of a Radiologic Technology Training Program approved by the American Medical Association; Mammography license is required; one to two years experience in Breast Imaging preferred.

NOTE: There are 7 of these positions available. Only one will be presented on the career site. All applicants will apply to this single position to be hired into any of the 7 available.



Must maintain Active CRT Mammography license/ 1-2 years experience in Breast imaging preferred.

Must maintain a current BLS/CPR certification

Ability to be courteous, professional and diplomatic in any given situation, particularly with patients who are anxious and agitated.
Ability to be flexible with working hours given adequate notice.
Demonstrate consistent professional appearance.

Understand the requirements of the EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act).
