Department Profile

Tampa General Hospital’s Cardiovascular Center has six cardiac catheterization laboratories, including two EP labs and seven interventional radiology suites in over 77,000 square feet of dedicated space, which also has two neuro Interventional suites. TGH has eight operating rooms outfitted for cardiac surgery. In addition, its Heart Valve Center includes a hybrid operating room and 160 slice CT scanner. Designed with patient comfort in mind, the 47 pre-and post-procedure rooms have private bathrooms and are equipped with internet, televisions, and telephones. The Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC) awarded its Heart Failure Certification to Tampa General Hospital for planning and organizing the delivery of care in a systematic manner that supports adherence to evidence-based guidelines and quality initiatives. TGH has also received Chest Pain (with Primary PCI) Accreditation from SCPC. TGH was most recently awarded full Atrial Fibrillation with Electrophysiology Services Accreditation status from SCPC for its expertise and commitment to quality patient care. Job Summary

Under general supervision following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, delivers care to patients pre, during, and post-procedure. Assists physicians in performing procedures including but not limited to catheterizations, interventions, electrophysiology, and implants. Implements patient care; documents patient assessments and flow of procedure; identifies and reports situations requiring intervention; communicates goals and plan of care; assures patient rights. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the values of Tampa General Hospital and the principles of FOCUS-PDCA.

Required Skills

  • Completion of 2 accredited program in Cardiovascular Technology or Radiography Program and/ or equivalent Cath lab experience inclusive of on the job training.
  • BLS and ACLS Certifications.
  • One year of experience in a hospital cardiac cath lab/externship.
