Nighthawk RadiologistSubspecialty: Diagnostic/Emergency Radiology

This is a very unique opportunity for a nighthawk radiologist that would like to practice high-quality radiology in a combined private practice and pseudo-academic environment with minimal overnight teaching duties. The need is for a nighthawk radiologist to work on-site 7 days on, 14 days off, Monday through Sunday 9pm-7am, no mammo or interventional required or needed. This opportunity can offer a competitive compensation package and a yearly set schedule with 34 weeks off to supplement your income elsewhere or to just enjoy your family and hobbies. They need somebody personable who gets along well with referring physicians and preferably someone that is looking for a long-term opportunity. They offer a great work environment and very manageable overnight volume of 160-170 studies, much of which is plain films, head CTs and full-body traumagram CTs. Also an occasional US or MRI that is usually bread-and-butter trauma. Residents from a local program rotate through their hospital, so there is overnight help along with some minimal teaching responsibilities. They also have two of their own internal fellows, an emergency radiology fellow and an MRI fellow.

Their equipment includes a Siemens 1.5T MRI, two 64-slice Toshiba CT scanners and a third recently installed 64-slice placed into a newly-opened full-service daytime imaging center, which also houses a 1.5T MRI. Three upgraded Toshiba US machines, digital fluoro, full PACS, Powerscribe-360 voice recognition and it is a totally filmless/paperless department.

Other benefits include: excellent malpractice, health, and disability insurance along with contributions to IRA in addition (not deducted) from salary. Relocation allowance to be discussed if a candidate is interested in moving.

With this opportunity you can experience an excellent lifestyle and work environment in a nice, growing metro area. This is a city of just under a million residents with over a million in the surrounding area. There is easy access to three large lakes, professional and minor league sports, opera, museums, and other lots of other cultural amenities. There is a historic housing district with over 500 homes and any type of housing you desire within an easy commute of the university as well as 3-4 very nice, affluent suburban areas. Some of the area schools are highly ranked in the country, with prestigious private schools available. There are churches of every denomination and every type of restaurant you could imagine.

The city is the home to several Fortune 500 companies and is a good place to raise a family, though relocation is not required as long as you can be on site to cover your weeks. They do not provide housing or travel expenses. There is an international airport that gives you easy access to/from most parts of the country with non-stop flights and the airport itself is an easy drive from anywhere in the city. But this could also be a great opportunity for someone that lives within a 4-7 hr. driving distance of their hospital.
