Excellent Breast/Women's Imaging opportunity
Subspecialty: Breast Imaging/Mammography

Group of 11 rads in central Michigan is seeking a 12th with fellowship training in mammo/breast imaging or a combined breast and body/MRI fellowship. You will join one other breast imager and enjoy 40-50% of your clinical time performing women's imaging and related procedures (including tomo, stereotactic breast biopsies and ideally breast MRI but not a must) with the other half of your time performing diagnostic work helping the group cover their three hospitals. It is an incredibly stable group that has been together nearly 50 years and you can expect to feel good about putting down roots in the community and staying for the long term. It is a busy practice, but they are very well rewarded both financially and with a lot of time off to enjoy vacations. Excellent benefits package that includes malpractice coverage, health, CME and a generous annual retirement contribution of $45-55K as well as a generous moving allowance.

The equipment at all of their locations is top notch and their Center for Women's Health is an ACR-accredited Center of Excellence, hence the desire for a formal breast imaging fellowship. They are replacing a partner that recently retired and they can start someone tomorrow as well as waiting until next summer for 2020 grads. 2020 fellows are very much encouraged to apply and you'd be hard pressed to find a better practice in the Upper Midwestern U.S. Their hospital system is doing very well financially and the group's reimbursements are amongst the highest in the nation. They employ a rotating evening shift of 4:30-11 pm, which the new person may or may not participate in. It all depends on your preference. But that enables the group to have no one overworked and no call rotation during the week with Vrad taking over the night flow after 11 pm and after 4 pm on the weekends. Weekend call is pretty easy with only covering 9-4 pm Saturday-Sunday reading just ER and inpatient imaging. With 12 radiologists you're only working four weekends a year and that is about as close to a no-call job as you'll find anywhere.

The group all gets along extremely well and everybody pulls their share of the load. As a result, they enjoy an incredible lifestyle with at least one week off per month as partners. They don't have any need for IR as that is a separate group altogether. Voice recognition is Powerscribe-360 and their PACS is a Merge system. The community is a beautiful one offering excellent school systems and nearby vacation areas all around. They enjoy a low COL and very affordable housing along with lots of outdoor downtown events during the spring, summer and fall: food festivals, art fairs, craft beer festivals, live music, Independence Day celebrations, a hot-air balloon festival, and 5K events. It really is a very collaborative community that has dozens of beautiful parks and outdoor activities galore. It is also a young community with the average age of a resident being 38 and the average home price just $130K. It is a great place to raise a family or enjoy the latter part of your career. Home to fortune 500 companies, its local economy is very stable and the city feels much bigger than its 50K population. It is also close to lake Michigan and all of the summer vacation sites up and down its vast coast.
