About the role

About the services

Working as a vascular surgeon, Dunedin offers the benefits of working in a tertiary referral centre with three other vascular colleagues. The department manages all elective and acute vascular workload for our population. There are four vascular interventional radiologists who work closely with vascular surgeons.

About you

You will have several years experience as a Vascular Surgeon with experience in Interventional Radiology, allowing you to take part in the vascular interventional sessions in and out of hours.

As an outstanding team player, you'll have the energy to make a positive difference with both patients and colleagues alike. You'll also be enthusiastic about teaching and passing on their knowledge to junior members of staff.

We are seeking applications from registered Medical Practitioners who have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, +/- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Radiologists,or equivalent to enable specialist (vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

You will be working in Dunedin Hospital, a 350 bed teaching and training institution in our wider Surgical Directorate, across both the Surgical and Radiology teams, bringing your specialist skills in endovascular to our team and community alike.

We have strong links with the Dunedin School of Medicine, the University of Otago, a Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Surgeons Integrated Training Program site. There is a strong academic vascular department at the Otago Medical School with opportunities for a joint clinical position, as such The Otago Medical School offers undergraduate training and all sub-specialties are represented in the Southern District Health Board.
