Staff Scientist - 7 Tesla MR Imaging

Carle Foundation Hospital is looking to add a Staff Scientist to our newly developed Center for Clinical Imaging Research in Urbana, Illinois.

Position Details Include:

The Staff Scientist will be responsible for providing clinical investigators with specialized training, support, and education with regard to advanced clinical MRI research including training in the use of the 7 Tesla MRI scanner, safety assessment, safety training, data acquisition, and data storage. Responsibilities will also include oversight of imaging research policies and procedures and expanding knowledge of the imaging research process through training or workshops for 7 Tesla users. The Staff Scientist will be expected to work with members of the SFCRI research team, as well as participate in proposal development, including protocol development, study implementation, data analysis, interpretation of results, and writing of manuscripts and presentations. The Staff Scientist is expected to pursue an independent line of research and may serve as PI, co-investigator, or other significant contributor on research projects, as well as author or co-author publications for peer-reviewed journals.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Applicants must have a PhD degree in MR engineering related field, such as Biomedical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or other related technical field


Minimum of 5 years experience in an MRI lab running human studies. MRI data collection experience, pulse sequence development in Siemens IDEA environment and experience with data analysis package such as FSL, SPM, or AFNI, preferred.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

Expertise in medical imaging; advanced knowledge of programming; excellent critical thinking and analytics skills; experience in technical writing skills; excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work effectively and collaboratively with investigators who come with a wide range of experience in research; attention to detail; service oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with multiple deadlines.
