Private group of 9 radiologists seeks a Breast Imaging specialist that is also adept with body imaging to join their group sometime this summer or sooner. You can expect approximately 70% of your clinical time reading mammography including tomo, performing related women's imaging procedures and 20-25% body/abdominal imaging. This is a salaried position with a private, well-established and stable multi-specialty group where your referral base is in-house and mostly all under one roof. They offer equal compensation from the outset and there is no "progression" to get to the compensation level that all of the other radiologists make.

They work in a fairly busy 380-bed Level One trauma center, but it is a very manageable daily workload being a well-equipped department with well-trained radiologists. They need somebody personable who gets along well with referring physicians as well as the residents and fellows you will be working with that rotate through their hospital. This would be a great opportunity for someone that desires to work with fellows, second year residents, as well as medical students but not be in a "publish or perish" type of environment while earning private practice-level compensation. Research, lecturing and publishing is all available but not at all required as it is more of a clinically-focused environment.

There is a very cohesive work environment that exists here and they really desire a candidate that would fit long-term into this collegial atmosphere. Teaching is the only real academic component and there is no pressure or requirement to publish, give lectures or do research. It is a 90-100% clinical position (depending on how you count the teaching), but the other academic responsibilities can be attained if desired. Their ideal start date for would be May-August 2020, so those currently completing residency or fellowship are definitely candidates they would like to consider.

With it being one of those rare pseudo-academic positions where you can get the professional satisfaction of teaching tomorrow's radiologists, you also have an enviable work schedule to go along with competitive private-practice level compensation. You can expect very manageable workdays with no call during the week and only occasional weekend call. They do employ a rotating evening shift during the week of 2-9 pm to better bridge their service from 5-9 pm when their in-house nighthawk rads take over. Expect weekend call to be 1:4 or 1:5 weekends with two radiologists covering in-house.

This is really is an excellent long-term opportunity for a radiologist that is looking for a competitive income and excellent working environment combined with an ideal balance of work and free time. Their equipment includes a Siemens 1.5T MRI and a second has been added. Two 64-slice CT scanners and a third 64-slice at a new imaging center that they opened in 2016. Three US machines, digital fluoro, full PACS, voice recognition and it is a totally filmless/paperless department. Annual RVU expectation is a very manageble 9,000.

Other benefits include: excellent malpractice, health insurance for you and your family, annual CME allowance, both long and short-term disability insurance. As well, there are annual contributions to a 403-B pension plan along with a generous moving allowance.

With this opportunity you can experience an enviable lifestyle and work environment in a nice, growing metro area. This is a city of just under a million residents with over a million in the metro area. There is easy access to three large lakes, sports, opera, museums, and many other cultural amenities. There is a historic housing district with over 500 homes and any type of housing you desire within an easy commute of the hospital as well as very upscale suburban areas within a half-hour of the hospital. Some of the area schools are highly ranked nationally, with several prestigious private schools available here. There are churches of every denomination and every type of restaurant you could imagine along with plenty of nightlife.

The city is the home to several Fortune 500 companies and its cost-of-living is relatively low. No state income taxes also bumps your annual income relative to most other states. There is an international airport that gives you easy access to most parts of the country with non-stop flights and the airport itself is an easy drive from anywhere in the city.
