Position Summary

Mori, Bean and Brooks, a Radiology Partners practice, has been the leader in diagnostic imaging and image guided interventions in Jacksonville since its founding in 1968. We provide exclusive diagnostic and interventional radiology services to seven (7) hospitals in two hospital systems, including the Baptist-MD Anderson Cancer Center. Our affiliated business office provides practice support, billing and coding services, and PACS/RIS IT services.

We are currently seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to work in collaboration with a supervising physician. The candidate assists in providing procedure based radiology services in both hospital and clinic based practice setting, such services to include but not be limited to pre-procedure evaluation and preparation of patients undergoing interventional or other image guided radiologic procedures, evaluation of patients in consultation, inpatient hospital rounds, and long term patient follow-up. The candidate will represent the practice in interactions with hospital staff, referring clinicians, patients and the health care community in general.

This position is Monday-Friday, providing weekday and weekend coverage call as set forth/determined by PA Utilization Committee or management. We offer a competitive base salary which can be enhanced by taking call in the hospital, generous PTO, full complement of benefits to include health insurance and 401k.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-procedure history and physical examinations under the direction and responsibility of radiologists on patients admitted by or cared for by the radiology service or on patients referred for consultation, both in inpatient and outpatient setting, to include evaluation and presentation of clinical, laboratory and radiologic data to the physician
  • Enter orders in collaboration with the radiologist
  • Provide continuity of care and appropriate follow-up by rounding on inpatients before and after interventional procedures and coordinating follow-up care
  • Provide patient education regarding disease process and prevention, interventional radiology procedures and follow-up care
  • Educate and provide support to nursing staff on patient care issues relevant to interventional radiology services
  • Assist in obtaining informed consent prior to procedures
  • Discharge patients from patient care units
  • Perform and/or arrange patient follow-up
  • Assemble relevant clinical, laboratory and radiologic data on patients for whom the interventional radiology service is consulted or provided care to. Write medical orders and interpret laboratory tests
  • Develop and implement patient comprehensive management plans, record progress notes and assist in provision of continuity of care
  • Track quality improvement, outcomes data and quality assurance issues in the section of interventional radiology
  • Assist in orchestrating vascular imaging including conventional angiography, vascular ultrasound, CTA and MRA
  • Coordinate invasive/therapeutic procedures performed throughout the various areas of department in collaboration with an interventional radiologist to expedite patient care and more effectively utilize the most appropriate radiologic modalities (i.e., coordinates treatment plan with other care givers such as physicians, community health nurses, physical therapists, social workers and nutritionists).
  • Interact with hospital staff and physician offices in order to have interventional radiology services easily and effectively utilized.
  • Participate in employee orientation and training programs.
  • Have the knowledge and competency to perform the following functions and may perform them with appropriate supervision:
    • Apply dressings and bandages
    • Control external hemorrhage
    • Perform CPR
    • Carryout aseptic and isolation techniques
    • Venipuncture
    • Recognize and treat allergic contrast reactions
    • Perform procedures that are in accordance with hospital bylaws. PA has received written approval by the Radiology Department Chairperson allowing him/her to perform specific procedures at specific facility with appropriate training and physician supervision
    • Provide weekend coverage as set forth/determined by PA Utilization Committee or management
    • Rotate in all hospital systems in order to be proficient in performance of weekend responsibilities
    • Perform appropriate coding for interventional procedures and exams


  • Utilize specialized knowledge and skills in the provision of direct patient care in specialty clinics
  • Good knowledge of standard laboratory tests and interventional radiological procedures
  • Working skill in interviewing and counseling patients, in communicating observations information or recommendations regarding diagnosis or treatment to medical professionals and other staff in written or oral form
  • Considerable ability to apply the policies, procedures and programs of the area of assignment
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other professional and support staff members
  • Ability to identify a variety of symptoms commonly encountered in the area of assignment and to determine the appropriate treatment strategy, disposition or referral for such conditions or behaviors
  • Accurately interpret complex medical situations
  • Working knowledge and skill in appropriate coding for interventional procedures and exams.
  • Ability to work and frequently stand for prolonged periods see objects closely, and hear normal sounds with some background noises. Ability to situate/re-situate patients and lift equipment of moderate weight
  • Graduate of physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission of Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or a predecessor organization
  • Must be up-to-date with the standards required for continuing medical education for physician assistants
  • Prior specific radiology experience will not be required initially
  • Board certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Must be licensed to practice in the State of Florida
