Group of 10 rads in central Michigan is seeking an 11th with fellowship training in MSK radiology. Need is ASAP but they can cover through the winter if need be. 2022 fellows are encouraged to apply. You will enjoy 35-40% of your time clinical performing MSK imaging work helping the group cover their three hospitals, one large and two smaller outlying. It is an incredibly stable group that has been together nearly 50 years with a hospital committed to remaining independent and you can expect to feel good about settling into the community and staying for the long term. It is a busy practice, but they are very well rewarded both financially and with a lot of time off to enjoy vacations. Excellent benefits package that includes malpractice coverage, an annual expense allowance to cover health, CME, society dues and a generous annual retirement contribution of $45-55K as well as a generous moving allowance. Voice recognition brand is Powerscribe-360 and their PACS is a Merge system. They don't have any need for IR as that is a separate group altogether and mammo/women's imaging is covered by a fellowship-trained breast imager. Nucs abilities are preferred with the only optional procedural abilities needed being myelograms, arthrograms and basic fluoro studies: upper/lower GI, BE, etc.

The equipment at all of their locations is top notch. They have a 128-slice CT at their main hospital and two new MRI units, one a 3.0T and the other a 1.5T. The whole department is very new, state-of-the-art including brand new fluoro units and a brand new CT unit at one of their smaller hospitals. They only physically go to their two outlying hospitals once per week and as an MSK rad you probably would not be asked to go there more than a couple of times per year as the MSK skills are more needed at the main campus. You'd be hard pressed to find a better or more stable, indpendent practice in the Upper Midwestern U.S. Their hospital system is doing very well financially and the group's reimbursements are amongst the highest in the nation. They have recovered well from the last year and their volumes are actually on the rise.

To bridge their daytime work with when Vrad takes over at 11 pm for overnight, they employ an evening shift of 4:30-11 pm that one partner does year round. So, there is very limited night/evening call during the week and very limited weekends, just four or five per year in-house 9 am-4pm with Vrad covering after 4 pm Saturday/Sunday. Weekend call is very manageable with reading just ER and inpatient imaging. With 11 radiologists, a dedicated evening shift person and just a handful of weekends per year it's about as close to a no-call job as you'll find anywhere.

The group all gets along extremely well and everybody pulls their share of the load. As a result, they enjoy an incredible lifestyle with at least one week off per month as partners. The community is a beautiful one offering excellent school systems and nearby vacation areas all around. They enjoy a low COL and very affordable housing along with lots of outdoor downtown events during the spring, summer and fall: food festivals, art fairs, craft beer festivals, live music, Independence Day celebrations, a hot-air balloon festival, and 5K events. It really is a very collaborative community that has dozens of beautiful parks and outdoor activities galore. It is also a young community with the average age of a resident being 38 and the average home price just $150K. You can get a whole lot for double that. It is a great place to put down roots and raise a family or enjoy the latter part of your career. Home to fortune 500 companies, its local economy is very stable and the city feels much bigger than its population. It is also close to lake Michigan and all of the summer vacation sites up and down its vast coast.
