Diagnostic Radiologist - Physician Consultant

Position Summary: The Diagnostic Radiology Physician Consultant has two components, independent consulting assignments for outside clients where evaluation of radiologic imaging studies is the primary focus. The second is interpreting radiologic imaging studies for other BRC Consultants in support of BRC’s injury causation and biomechanical analysis practice. Assessment of such studies includes, but is not limited to, interpreting radiology exams, reporting pertinent findings, and producing 3D images that aid in the visualization and understanding of complex injuries by non-medically trained personnel. This is a full-time, non-clinical position and does not involve patient care. Remote or on-site work is available, on-site preferred but not required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Review imaging studies, case materials and related information to prepare and present verbal and/or written findings to internal consultants or clients.
  2. Prepare PowerPoint presentations summarizing key images and findings.
  3. Prepare 3D radiologic images using OsiriX specifically designed for navigation and visualization of multimodality and multidimensional images.
  4. Direct, review, and analyze work products from various staff (e.g., nursing, visual communications, etc.).
  5. In some cases may review and analyze technical reports and depositions.
  6. Identify, select, and review relevant literature bearing on a problem or issue, and potentially prepare summaries.
  7. Participate in client meetings.
  8. Potentially provide oral testimony (depositions or trial) as to opinions represented in oral or written reports.
  9. Provide quality and responsive client service.
  10. As needed, conduct case-related team meetings.
  11. Work according to standard policies and procedures within an acceptable degree of variation.
  12. Participate in marketing and business development activities including but not limited to promoting BRC’s consultants and services through individual client contacts and in conference and/or symposium related forums.
  13. Participate and support research and publication efforts as appropriate.
  14. Participate and contribute to various corporate events, meetings and activities
  15. Provide performance management input to appropriate managers/supervisors.
  16. Represent BRC’s corporate culture internally and externally by producing impeccable work product, promoting teamwork, and continuing to establish BRC’s reputation as a leader and trend setter within the biomechanical analysis and accident reconstruction field.
  17. Other duties as assigned by the Board.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience/Competencies:

  1. Must be a licensed Medical Doctor (MD) actively engaged in radiology, American Board of Radiology (ABR) board certified in radiology; have appropriate education, training, and experience; have knowledge and skill about the subject matter; and understand the standard of care.
  2. Recent ER and/or trauma radiology experience, minimum one year.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate and present complex information, ideas, and opinions verbally and in writing to different levels of audience that include colleagues, co-professionals, attorneys, and other professional and non-professional groups and individuals.
  4. Exhibit critical listening and interpersonal skills required to successfully engage and resolve multi-layered accident and product liability related cases with the goal of surpassing client expectations at all phases of the project.
  5. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting MRI’s and CT’s.
  6. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  7. Must have excellent oral and written communication proficiency in the English language.
  8. 30% travel may be required for this position.
  9. Ability and willingness to work outside the standard work schedule will be required to fulfill the requirements, duties and tasks of this position.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software, specifically Word and Outlook, Microsoft Windows and Adobe Acrobat. Knowledge of OsiriX an advantage. The ability to adapt to new software and modalities for employing software in an efficient manner is also required.

Certifications and Licenses: Required - Current American Board of Radiology (ABR) Medical Board Licensure

Supervisory Responsibilities: None, generally; Leadership responsibility to lead teams of varying levels of staff and clients to the successful conclusion of case closure.
