Mammographer M-F daylight, full time no weekends, no call, AGH based.
Procedures / skills needed
Screening/diagnostic mammograms
Breast ultrasound/aspiration
Ultrasound guided biopsy
Stereotactic guided biopsy
Tomosynthesis guided biopsy
Ductogram (rarely happens)
Breast MRI
Breast MRI guided biopsy
Ultrasound guided breast drain placement
Reads / day
Approximately 10-15 diags/day in addition to biopsies. Sometimes a few more but no more than 20 without biopsies.
20-30 screens or more a day with diags, 60-80 screens if only a screening day
0-3 Breast MRI/day (if able to read them)...usually 1-2 depending on the site.
Technology utilized in center
Hologic and GE mammogram machines (2D/Tomo) Phillips IU22 and EPIQ ultrasound units Achieve, Marquee, Maxcore ultrasound biopsy devices Eviva vacuum assisted biopsy devices for stereo/tomo/MRI biopies (also have Brevera at one site for vacuum assisted biopsies stereo/tomo) ABUS at one site
Staff Makeup
9 breast imagers all breast fellowship trained at central location
6 community breast imagers
Each site has at least one nurse navigator (also gives path results to patients)
1 lead tech at each site with multiple mammo/ultrasound techs

5. Anticipated schedule details i.e. hours needed, weekends, call: M-F (daytime hours)
6. Will there be any Call Coverage or ER Call coverage? No
7. Types of Cases and Ages of patients: Mammography studies
They must be MQSA certified and have all documentation on hand.
