Teleradiology - Medical Director – West Florida Market

The position of Medical Director (MD) is created to provide remote support in management of the clinical aspects of teleradiology operations on behalf of Employer and designated companies under management agreements with subsidiaries of Envision Physician Services (“Envision”), to foster the sharing of knowledge and communications between Medical Directors, and to assist in new contract start-ups. The RMD will be licensed in states designated by the CCO of teleradiology. Additionally, the RMD will be available to provide marketing assistance as deemed necessary by management.

The position shall report to the respective physician designated by Employer (“Employer’s Designee”), on administrative and clinical matters related to the fulfillment of contracts with client hospitals. The RMD will establish working relationships with the remote and onsite SVPs, VPs of Operations and Directors of Operation, in their respective areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Market Operations:

The RMD will assist his or her fellow Medical Directors and the teleradiologist physicians at each client hospital in the West Florida market, as defined by the practice. The RMD will aid the local Medical Directors in the following areas: improving radiologist efficiency/productivity; creating a professional atmosphere conducive to a high standard of patient care; investigating patient complaints and incident reports; and interaction with the Chiefs of Service of the Medical Staffs. The RMD shall work closely with the onsite RMD, DOO and the hospital staff to advise on existing policies and development of new policies as the need arises. The RMD will assist in maintaining peer review, quality metrics and reporting templates as needed in the market.

Start Up Responsibilities:

In order to ensure that new contracts are established as smoothly as possible, the RMD assigned to the start-up of a contract shall be responsible for the duties as outlined. The RMD will help interview new physician candidates for the Teleradiology service line. The assigned RMD, or his designee, will be responsible for the orientation of the new teleradiologists in the market. The assigned RMD will analyze existing policies and make recommendations for appropriateness of policies, procedures, protocols, and other guidelines affecting the delivery of teleradiologist services.

Quality Improvement Activities:

The RMD shall serve as an advisor to the Radiology Service Line Quality Director as he/she assists in any applicable quality improvement activities along with review of metrics. The RMD shall be available to the on-site hospital staff to assist as needed in reviewing teleradiologist dictated reports for appropriate documentation, assessment of appropriateness of findings/impressions and recommendations, and the overall appropriateness of the quality improvement activities.

Administrative Functions:

The RMD shall assist the teleradiology practice in evaluating any potential problems with physicians contracting with companies under management agreements with Envision. It shall be the RMD's responsibility to keep the appropriate personnel informed of the teleradiology practice operations in the market. The RMD shall counsel physicians as necessary regarding problem issues.

The RMD shall familiarize him/herself with the criteria for hospitalist medicine services as established by TJC and will aid the remote and on-site staff regarding compliance with the standards of TJC.

The RMD shall work with the SVPs, VPs of Operations, and the clinical radiology leaders in the evaluation of the professional fee structure, evaluation, and enforcement of Envision's administrative policies and procedures, and implementation of new technology solutions. This shall also include training physicians on appropriate documentation. The RMD shall assist in the recruitment and onboarding of additional teleradiologist physicians. This assistance may include interviewing, evaluating, and performing general recruitment activities.

The RMD shall work with management to develop service plans for each of the hospital contracts served. This shall include the identification of problems and the development of a problem-solving plan. Routine reporting at MOR or QOR meetings with hospital clients is an expectation of the position as well.

The RMD will be responsible for working with the Executive Claims Committee to develop or refine and implement the Risk Management Program for Envision client hospitals.
