Duties/Responsibilities:


  • • Obtains patients’ histories from electronic records, patient interviews, dictated reports, and by communicating with referring clinicians. Prepares comprehensive interpretive reports of findings.
    • Performs and interprets the outcomes of diagnostic imaging procedures including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computer tomography (CT), and ultrasound. Reviews and transmits images and information using picture archiving and communications systems. Communicates examination results and diagnostic information to referring physicians.
    • Evaluates medical information to determine patients’ risk factors (such as allergies to contrast agents) and to make decisions regarding the appropriateness of procedures.
    • Provides counseling to radiologic patients to explain the processes, risks, benefits, and alternative treatments.
    • Confers with medical professionals regarding image-based diagnoses.
    • Coordinates radiological services with other medical activities. Document’s performance, interpretation, and outcomes of procedures performed. Establishes and enforces standards for protection of patients and staff.
    • Develops and monitors procedures to ensure adequate quality control of images.

    • Participates in continuing education activities to maintain and develop expertise.
    • Participates in quality improvement activities including discussions of areas where risk of error is high.

  • Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Thorough understanding of medical terminology and treatment plans.
    • Excellent patient care skills.
    • Superior critical thinking skills and the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Education and Experience:
    • Completion of medical school, a medical internship, and medical residency in radiology at an accredited medical facility required.
    • Three years of experience required.
