FUNCTIONAL TITLE: CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF RADIOLOGY

Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (HUMC) invites applications for the position of Chair of Radiology.

This pivotal role reports to the HUMC Chief Medical Officer and plays a crucial part in shaping the future of our clinical, educational, and academic missions within the integrated Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS). Our institution is embarking on an exciting new chapter, featuring a campus-wide transformation including the construction of a new hospital and outpatient towers. HUMC currently offers the full gamut of imaging services to include CT, MR, US, PET/CT, NM, XR, MMG/Tomo, and IR services.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We seek a transformative leader with a deep understanding of the radiology needs of Los Angeles’ diverse safety net population. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical and academic background, proven leadership capabilities, and experience in navigating a complex, unionized health delivery system such as DHS. Responsibilities include management of HUMC radiology imaging operations to include diagnostic and interventional radiology services, oversight of a diagnostic radiology residency program and neuroradiology, breast imaging, and interventional radiology fellowships as well as plans to establish an interventional radiology residency program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead and Inspire: Direct a dynamic team of over 20 faculty members (UAPD) and 26 trainees (SEIU) in our fully accredited ACGME diagnostic radiology residency and fellowship programs represented by the UAPD and SEIU unions respectively.

· Enhance Service Delivery: Manage a comprehensive range of radiology services including inpatient and outpatient diagnostic and interventional services with a focus on improving care-delivery and resource utilization.

· Strategic Vision and Innovation: Craft and implement strategies to enhance imaging services with an emphasis on health equity and integrating HUMC imaging into an integrated DHS health system.

· Collaborative Excellence: Foster strong intra and interdisciplinary collaborations within HUMC and DHS.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

· Medical degree from an accredited institution, board certification in Diagnostic or Interventional Radiology; eligible for licensure in CA.

· At least three to five years of leadership experience in an academic medical center or large, complex health system with highly matrixed organizational structures.

· Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire across organizational boundaries.

· A strong record in quality improvement, strategic planning, and operational management.

· Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

· Eligibility for academic appointment at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Chair will hold an academic appointment as a Professor or Associate Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
